RECENT NEWS !

Sorry I have been so busy for the last 5 months, but pretty much everything came down to Horse of the Year Show!!! Ill try to keep it very brief!

Last season for me was an absolute dream, Dunstan Daffodil was a true Champion at the Horse of the Year show, taking out the Olympic Cup and the Silver Fern Stakes, the 2 major classes of the show and her only 2 starts of the show!
There was a bit of pressure on the Olympic Cup no one had won it 3 years in a row, I feel incredibly lucky to be the first to have done this and just have to thank the horses that helped me do it, Delphi, Seremonie and Daffodil!
Daffodil was great all season winning many 3 star Grand Prixs and World Cups, the World Cup Series, the Super League Series and the Leading Mare Series, shes pretty cool for a feral 16hh horse that gets worked behind a motor bike ;)

Pegasus - The Art of Riding Pegasus - The Art of Riding

The horse that really surprised me was Dunstan Zimorena G, she stepped to win Lady Rider of the Year at HOY, which was a huge leap from what she had been jumping, she then went onto be the star in Sydney……news on that trip is on the international trips page!
Zasjany D was 4th in the Lady Rider and 2nd in the Speed, shes still a fun speed machine!
Zehrenland was super for Luke Dee just the last fence down in Young Rider of the Year….bugger!

The three 7 Year olds…..
I think im VERY lucky to have 3 of the coolest 7 year olds last season which I cannot wait to step up this season into the bigger Grand Prixs!
Kiwi Iron Mark was a superstar in the 7 year old horse of the year, winning it in great style and in a very fast jump off!!
Dunstan Springfield finished 1st= in the 7 year old series and won a Grand Prix and Dunstan Delilah I took a bit easier but jumped clear in the 1.40m at Horse of the Year and has glimpses of her older sisters talents!

The two 6 Year olds……
Breeze and Banderas who like to be as similar to each other as they possibly can both jumped great at HOY and are getting more experienced, they both finished 2nd in the 1.30m class, there was 2 divisions!

The 5 year olds…..
There is one freak amongst them, it is Carlo, he arrived in November, did a couple of training shows, then went onto win the National Young Horse 5 year over 3 days, the series final 5 year old class and the Horse of the Year 5 year old class…….Im in Love !
Chilly and De Boss both look very promising but still a bit green and will learn a lot this coming season.

Dorothy – the Cardento
(half sister to Delphi and Daffodil) 3 year old is broken in and learning to jump….so far so good, and she is Beautiful !

One Massive thank you has to go out to the team from last season, Juliane was SUPER groom, very sad she had to go home to Germany

Juliane

All Horses are in Work now, clipped and getting fit…..bring on 2012 – 2013 season…….we have a big dream, SPRUCE MEADOWS 2013!

NEWS UPDATE August 2011

Almost to the start of a new season!!
There has been a lot happening in the last few months!
The World Cup Final in Leipzig was an amazing experience, Delphi jumped incredible!!
The Indoor shows in Europe are nothing like what she has ever been used to, she handled the crowds so well and did it all like a true professional!
We finished up 6th Overall, a huge result for a horse from New Zealand that no one in Europe had ever heard of!
After the World Cup Final there was a huge interest in Delphi, we had to make the very sad but sensible decision to sell her L
I was so lucky to have such great owners of her in my parents and Chris and Sandy Shore and hope we can find another Champion to take us on the fun adventures Delphi did!

The last couple of months I have been busy bringing in the horses for the NZ season and I plan to base myself here and continue to bring up young horses and compete on the NZ circuit with the main aim to head back to Europe in a year or two with some horses.  I think that I have a very promising team of young horses, so fingers crossed!

More exciting news was buying my own place with 10 acres!!! I have only moved across the road from Mum and Dad but its still pretty cool to have my own house and swimming pool! (bring on the sunny summer!)
The horses remain at my parents property and I have fields for the young horses and mares at my place.

Flower Power (Delphis Mum) Is looking fantastic at 24 years old and we have an embryo of hers in a surrogate mare in foal at the moment.

We have a great team of people working here this summer and are available to take horses for schooling.
Dad is doing lessons, please email me If you would like to book in for lessons with him!

That’s all for now, look forward to seeing everyone at the first show in September at Pukahu !!

2 weeks until the ROLEX FEI WORLD CUP FINAL in Leipzig Germany!!
Dunstan Delphi is very well and this will be her next start in Europe.

AUGUSTA, ITALY, CSI***
Quinto placed 6th in the 1.50m on Friday and 8th in the 1.50m on Saturday, had the fastest jump off time and 1 down…..bugger!!

ST-HERTOGENBOSCH WORLD CUP CSI****
Dunstan Delphi started off her European Campaign very well!
4th in the GRAND PRIX on Saturday night

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_1kPI9Nxcdg

Quinto also jumped very well placing 2nd in the 1.50m accumulator on Sunday

SEREMONIE VDL WINS HORSE OF THE YEAR 1.60m!!!
KM_110317_0633.jpg
I was very lucky be given the ride on Seremonie VDL when I flew back for the NZ Horse of the Year Show due to Ike Unsworth breaking his hand.
She was great placing 3rd = in the Silver Fern Stakes 1.50 on Friday then winning the NZ Horse of the Year Olympic Cup.
Huge thanks to Mount View Sport Horses, Wendy and Richard Keddell!

DUNSTAN DAFFODIL WINS SILVER FERN STAKES 1.50m

Dunstan Daffodil jumped 2 fantastic rounds in the teams event at the NZ Horse of the Year Show to take out the Silver Fern Stakes!!

HEADING TO EUROPE
Dunstan Delphi Tauranga World Cup 2011
Photo courtesy of Kampic – Dunstan Delphi Tauranga World Cup 2011

Well its been a long time since website updates so this is a big one!!!
I have had a great New Zealand Season with my fantastic team of horses.
Dunstan Daffodil has stepped up to World Cup level this year and been amazing, she has hardly been out of the top 3 placings in World Cups or Grand Prixs all season!
Dunstan Delphi settled in back home very nicely and competed 3 times at World Cup Level for a win first up at Dannevirke in January, followed by a 2nd in the Speed Leg at Tauranga and winning the Final round also at Tauranga.
I have now qualified for the World Cup Final in Leipzeig Germany at the end of April. I will take Delphi over to Europe on the 26th of February to begin my build up. Luckily I have a great family who will keep my NZ horses in work and I will travel back for the NZ Horse of the Year Show in March to ride Dunstan Daffodil, Dunstan Zasjany D, Dunstan Delilah and Dunstan Springfield.
My first show in Europe will be s-hertogenbosch in Holland, I was very lucky to get a Wild Card spot into this Indoor World Cup round!

We have Jamie Winning and Jamie Kermond arriving from Australia this week with their horses to compete at Woodhill, Taranaki and Horse of the Year Show, seeing im away they will compete some of my horses for me J

The Horse Van I have been supplied with for the season has been fantastic…..the horses all travel great in it, its super on fuel and it fly’s! Very handy to be able to take 2 extra horses to shows now, or just for whipping around places when we don’t need to use the big truck!

Im very happy to announce a new Sponsor also “Finish Line” they do a range of supplements that Delphi and Daffodil live on!

HOPE TO SEE EVERY ONE AT HORSE OF THE YEAR SHOW!!!!

16/11/10
DUNSTAN DELPHI IS HOME !

Delphi has arrived back home in NZ safe and looking fantastic!
She will have a week off here going out in the field each day, then start work on Monday 22nd November.
My “dream” plan for her is to have her first start at Dannevirke after New Year then Woodhill, Gisborne and Tauranga, then onto Horse of the Year Show, then onto Europe with the hope of being at the World Cup Final in Germany !
There is a lot to happen between now and then but that’s our main goal!

Delphi home

PUKEKOHE 2* SHOW

We only went up to Pukekohe on the Sunday with a couple of babies who jumped very nicely around the training ring and 3 Grand Prix Horses.
Daffodil was awesome jumping double clear to win the Grand Prix, Zasjany had her first ever Grand Prix start and just had 4 faults early then got the hang of the big jumps and jumped super!
Lucy and Tina had a unlucky rail in the middle of the treble.
Lucy Akers on Volare
Lucy Akers on Volare……training ring.

KIHIKIHI WORLD CUP SHOW

Our local show is one of the best shows of the season, the weather was perfect over the weekend and we had a very good show!
Zasjany won the 7 year old and also won her first 1.40m start!!
Zimorena did her first 7 year old class and jumped a super double clear round to finish 4th
Daffodil was 2nd in the World Cup, Phillip Steiner won with a very nice double clear round.  Lucy and Tinapai jumped an amazing first round clear, then things didn’t quite go to plan in the second round.
Springfield was double clear in the 6 year old and Delilah just had 4 faults!
Whangarei Show

Whangarei 2* Show

Lucy Akers and Tinapai won the Grand Prix, Daffodil was 2nd, we were the only 2 clears out of the first round! We think that makes dad “leading trainer!”

All the other horses jumped very nicely Zasjany was 2nd in the 1.25m

25th October 2010
HAWKES BAY A&P SHOW  - DUNSTAN DAFFODIL WINNER WORLD CUP !

Daffidol & Zasjany
DAFFODIL & ZASJANY in there stables at Hawkes Bay A&P 2010

Its been a very hectic week!!
After only being home 5 days we headed off to Hawke’s Bay A&P Show!
Amy who has arrived from America for the season came with us and 4 of my horses.
Dunstan Daffodil was the star of the weekend! She jumped clear the first day in the 1.35m, I didn’t start her in the jump off as I knew she had a big few days ahead, the second day she jumped double clear in the 1 star Grand Prix to finish 2nd place. The World Cup class which is the first for the season she jumped two super double clears to win!!
Dunstan Zasjany jumped double clear in the 1.15m the first day then Won the 7year old class with another double clear round!
Dunstan Springfield jumped double clear in the 1.15m and double clear in the 6 year old class to take 1st =
Dunstan Zimorena had her first 1.20m start and also jumped clear!!!
Very good start to the season!!
Have to say a huge Thank you to Lucy Olphert who has been working Zasjany and Springfield while I have been away, and Mum who has lunged Daffodil for the last 2 months, I think she’s the fittest she has ever been!
Lucy Akers has now moved to Mystery Creek with us and her 2 horses.

All information for Spruce Meadows summer series is at www.sprucemeadows.com
I will then head back to California with Butch and Lou Thomas and base there.

All the other horses are happily turned out now, 3 went to the Williams at Gisborne, I think it was a bit of a shock to there system being turned out in a big paddock with a hill!! Corofino has gone to see his owner Jenny down south, looking forward to getting back on him next season!

Katie and Delphi - National Overall Champion

News for 2010!!

Well it has been a great start to the Year so far.
Dunstan Delphi has stepped up to the mark and has jumped amazingly.
Early in January at Dannevirke she won the North Island Championship Super League Grand Prix and was 2nd in the World Cup, jumping double clear in both events, the following weekend she won the World Cup at Kumeu, jumping double clear again.
The World Cup Final at Gisborne was a very wet show, we ended up only having the first days speed round World Cup, Delphi won this also and took out the World Cup Series, Sundays competition was cancelled, but she was already unbeatable in the points.
We then travelled down to Christchurch for the Nationals, again Delphi jumped great winning Overall and jumping double clear rounds Saturday and Sunday to take out the National title.....I am very lucky to have such an amazing horse!!!

Daffodil has been a little over shadowed by her younger sister, she has been very consistent in the bigger classes lately, just to be beaten by Delphi a couple of times!! She was 3rd in the World Cup at Dannevirke, 2nd in Kumeu World Cup, and 2nd at the Nationals in Christchurch.

Corofino is having a little bit of quiet time at the moment, with the big trip from Europe and all the serving he has been doing we thought it was best to freshen him up a bit for Horse of the Year.

The Young horses have been going well, Zasjany D (by Corland) was 2nd in North Island 6yo Championship, at the Nationals Zenzel HBC (by Cantos) was 2nd in the 6yr old and Zasjany D was 4th, Springfield (by Indoctro) won the National 5yo title.
Zasjany D was also 3rd overall in the National 1.20m - 1.30m Class.

Uranda, a european imported mare has been ridden by Tasha Brooks lately, Tasha has been helping out here working alot of horses for me so I let her take Uranda to a few shows, she has had great success, at her first show at Woodhill she won the 1.10m and last weekend at Taihape she won the 1.20m with 97 starters, then on the Sunday won the 2 star Junior rider along with the Equitation prize!!

We are off to Foxton in a couple of weeks, then Woodhill Sands and Horse of the Year Show.

NEWS FLASH 19 June 2009

Kiwi Showjumpers at Spruce Meadows!

Anna Trent and Guy Thomas have been having great success at Spruce Meadows this weekend in Canada.

On Tuesday in the 1.45m Scotiabank Cup Guy was 11th on Urian with 1 time fault and 23rd with Peterbilt on 8 faults.

Anna had 4 faults to finish 16th on Muskateer NZPH - I did hear the may have been a minor stirrup problem!

They both did not compete on Wednesday

Thursday in the Husky Energy Cup 1.45m Guy was 3rd on Peterbilt and just had 1 timefault on Urian. Anna finished 5th, this class was won by Beezie Madden and Authentic.

So a great result for the Kiwis!

McVean Show jumpers

I am currently looking for a 2nd rider to compete show jumpers up to 1.30m for the coming season. I am taking the opportunity to have a shoulder operation so will be out of action for a little while.

If there is anyone that is capable of schooling horses and competing them at shows, it would be a full time job for the full season coming up.

Also a number of horses have come up for sale, so please give me a call if any one is interested.

Im going to take this time off to really get my website up and running and will still have all horses in work.

I now have plenty of spare time for lessons etc also

The second round was won by Guy Thomas, with Anna Trent just dropping one rail.

Danielle Maurer has been having a good run in Australia with the NZ horse she took over Blue Rinse. Winning and placing in lots of classes.
Blue Rinse is actually out of the same mare as one of the horses I have in work at the moment, Ned Kelly (he is by European Sire Hold up Premier)

Australian rider Jamie Winning has been achieving great international results at Wiesbaden riding Triomphe and Congo Z  to 4th and 8th in the Silver Tour at the CSI **** show in Germany.

McVean Show jumpers

We only have 4 show jumpers in work at the moment which is a nice change over winter, these are all nice youngsters.
Two of the European mares have arrived back from Quarantine with there foals.
Breeze who is by Religio out of a Corrado mare had a very nice filly by Wittinger
Uranda who is by Nijinsky out of a Notaris mare also had a very nice filly by Wittinger
Unfortunately Brainy who is by Corland out of  Indoctro mare lost her foal at birth, it was a very nice big colt to.

Lucy Akers who was helping us out and doing a lot of truck driving got offered an amazing job looking after horses in Turkey and going to some of the big Nations Cup shows over there so we told her she could not miss the opportunity so within a week she was on a plane to Turkey! She will be back for the NZ season though with Tinapai who she competed in Europe and America in the last year with great success.

Vicki Wilson is still here and doing a fantastic job, she has a few horses here and rides track work for Dad......bit of a change from the show jumpers!

News and Gossip 7th May 2009

Hi everyone,

Welcome to my website, hope you all like it!
I will try to update it as often as possible with any news!
If you have any news please email me on: katiemcvean@xtra.co.nz

At the moment i'm on the Gold Coast in Queensland with Jungle Rocket, trained by Dad, I've come over to look after her and work her. She won the Group 1 Oaks in Wellington NZ in March and is heading toward the Group 1 Oaks here in Brisbane.

All my Show jumpers are having a well earned rest over winter and will be back in work early August ready for the 2009 - 2010 season.

Looking after the farm at home is Lucy Akers and Vicki Wilson, they are taking time off from the show jumpers and looking after our busy stable of racehorses and they are doing a fantastic job!

This weekend we are all looking forward to hearing how the New Zealanders go at Badminton, competing there is, Caroline Powell, Andrew Nicholson, Joe Meyer, Annabel Wigley, Dan Jocelyn and Tim Price. Unfortunately Mark Todd had to withdraw after his horse NZB Gandalf missed to much work after a neck injury.
GO THE KIWIS!!

Kiwis overseas.....

Anna Trent is currently competing with success in America, waiting on news from her that will be up tomorrow hopefully!
