Based at Mystery Creek, Hamilton, New Zealand, Katie McVean Equestrian 
specialises in the training, breeding and competing of Show jumpers.
Katie and her parents have been involved with show horses for many years. Katie’s father Jeff has represented Australia at three Olympic Games for Show jumping and during that time held a world ranking within the Top 10 for Show jumping riders. Vicki, Katie’s mother, is also a top equestrian and has also represented Australia in Nations Cup Competitions.
Along with the Show jumpers, Jeff also runs a very successful racing stable of which he can claim success as having trained 2 Group 1 winners, Leica Guv to win the NZ Derby, and more recently Jungle Rocket to win the NZ Oaks.
The horse business is a large family operation with Jeff being Katie's show jumping trainer and truck driver!
Katie has represented New Zealand in Europe and America with great success.
Her best results are recently on homebred Dunstan Delphi, in the summer of 2010 she competed very successfully at Spruce Meadows in Calgary, Canada.
Picking up placings in the major CSI**** Grand Prixs
Katie and Delphi also jumped 2 clear rounds at the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky.
More recently Dunstan Delphi and Katie went to the World Cup Final in Leipzig were they finished 6th competing against the best in the World!
Dunstan Delphi has now been sold to top Saudi Equestrian Rider Kamal Bahamdan and has already had great results.
In 2009 Katie together with two Dutch owners imported six Dutch bred horses to NZ, which comprised of three 5 year olds ready to compete, and three mares in foal. Although it is still early days, these horses which are all very well bred, and of lovely type, are settling in well to New Zealand conditions, will form the foundation of the Katie McVean Equestrian business.
